S Zapello can rest assured (Letters December 2) Labour is taking absolutely nothing for granted in Portslade in the run up to next year’s local and parliamentary elections.
Votes have to be won through a mixture of trust, hard work and commitment. That is why we’ve been knocking on doors and delivering leaflets since January of this year.
He’s right about UKIP, however. We need to know where they stand on a variety of issues.
In one breath they say they want to protect the NHS then in another they want to sell large chunks of it off.
On the one hand they say they want to increase spending and on the other they want to cut taxes. They want to represent the working person yet the first thing they would do if in power is scrap hard won legal employment rights.
As I've already said, no one should take voters for granted but they do have a right to be told what they are being asked to vote for.
