Travellers moved back on to a public park.

A group of caravans and cars and vans entered Wild Park in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, just after 6.30pm on Monday.

Sussex Police has said they are thought to be those evicted from a site in Ports-lade earlier the same day.

Brighton and Hove City Council said it was aware of the travellers arriving and officers visited with police yesterday morning to carry out an assessment.

The group was told it is trespassing on council-owned land and has been asked to leave. It is understood the council is commencing possession order proceedings.

The council has already begun legal proceedings to evict travellers at Preston Park in the city and a court hearing is due to take place on Friday.

Council officers have visited the site with police and parking enforcement officers to issue parking tickets.

An encampment also remains on land adjacent to Racehill Allotments in Wilson Avenue, Brighton. The council has applied for a possession order which, if granted, will allow it to evict the group.
