One in four children eligible for free school meals are not receiving the perk in West Sussex, according to a new study.
West Sussex has one of the highest “under-registration rates” of eligible children for free schools meals in 2013 at 25%.
The statistic raises some important questions around the plight of poor children in relatively wealthy parts of the country, according to the authors of the recently published all-party parliamentary inquiry into hunger and food poverty in Britain.
