A fire service is reminding people to get their chimneys swept after a spate of Boxing Day fires.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to chimney fires in Havelock Road in Brighton, Croft Terrace in Hastings and Lewes Road in Chelwood Gate on Friday.
At all the incidents, firefighters used a specialist chimney kit to fight the fires. There are no reports of injuries.
The service is now urging people to follow simple tips to avoid having a chimney fire, including ensuring your chimney is swept regularly.
Chimneys should be swept according to the type of fuel used. Those who use smokeless fuels should sweep their chimney at least once a year, bitumous coal at least twice a year, wood every three months, oil once a year and gas once a year.
Make sure you always use a fire guard to protect against flying sparks from hot embers, never interrupt the air supply by blocking air vents or air bricks and ensure the fire is extinguished before going to bed or leaving the house.
