It would appear the bean counters at Southern Railway have managed to recoup the reductions in season tickets from Burgess Hill to London by increasing the parking charges by 25 per cent for a monthly ticket.

Given the pricing structure - £9.60 for a week, £40 for a month - it is cheaper to buy a weekly ticket than a monthly ticket.

In view of the self-congratulatory tone Southern has adopted recently, I would like to know how it has managed to mess this matter up so badly?
