The content of your recent article about window cleaning services for Brighton and Hove City Council properties did not tell the whole story (The Argus, January 22).
Leaseholders objected to the proposal because the contract was not opened to tenders from other companies. The council chose to put forward one tender only and this was thought to be not in the best interests of the leaseholders and taxpayers of Brighton and Hove.
Instead of allowing other companies to put in bids, the council decided, for some reason, to withdraw the proposal entirely.
This seems a little unfair and does nothing to inspire confidence in the ability of the council to obtain the best value for its residents when procuring services from private companies.
