I write in response to letters in your newspaper regarding the validity of the opinion survey on the King Alfred project (Letters, January 31).
ICM has established itself as a leading independent research organisation which specialises in social research not only for Government departments, the European Commission, local authorities and the Conservative Party but also for the media, including the BBC, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph and Channel 4.
Our reputation is built on the quality and impartiality of our work based on tried and trusted methods and we are a member of the British Poll Council (BPC).
The questionnaire we designed, results tables and a report for the King Alfred survey are all available for examination on our website at www.icmresearch.co.uk together with details of the BPC guidelines.
Further, using a random sample of 1,000 people drawn from within the administrative district of Brighton and Hove and representing the demographics of the city, we can be 95 per cent certain the results are accurate within the range of +/- 3.1 per cent from the sample result.
