Whatever the rights and wrongs of the new school catchment areas, the Labour leadership's decision to manipulate the committee membership at such a late stage in the proceedings illustrates how meaningless the "consultation" was.

A decision had clearly been made that the solution proposed was the right one for the Labour Party and that no one was going to prevent it being passed.

Have we ended up with the right solution for the children? Who knows? Have we ended up with the right solution for the politicians?

Clearly.
