SOUTH American delegates braved the chillier climates of Sussex as they visited a primary school to learn about a solar panel project.

St Luke’s Primary School in Brighton invited Chilean officials to meet with staff and pupils about the green energy scheme.

The visitors had a tour of the school with headteacher Jonathan Cooper before the school’s eco-council gave a presentation about the progress of their solar project under the guidance of eco coordinator and teacher Fiona Byrne.

St Luke’s are currently taking part in a national scheme called Solar Schools and are crowdfunding £13,600 from their local community.

So far they have raised £9,370 by putting on events such as toy sales, clothes swaps and a World Cup fun day.

The officials are part of Fundacion Chile and CREO Antofogasta, two organisations working closely with local government in Chile to improve quality of life.

They are visiting the UK to gather research on sustainable practices, particularly focused on energy, and are keen to implement some of St Luke’s work and ideas.
