YOUNG entrepreneurs from ten Sussex schools set out their wares at a trade fair.

The students aged between 15 and 19 are taking part in the Young Enterprise scheme, which gives teenagers a chance to set up and run their own company for a year with the help of a business mentor.

The trade fair was held at Holmbush Shopping Centre, and Wendy Gorham, the Young Enterprise Manager for East Sussex, said the scheme taught young people essential business skills.

She said: “They own the company and learn by doing, which is so valuable. They learn resilience, team work and other vital skills for life.”

The schools taking part in this year’s trade fair were Roedean, Varndean College, Peacehaven Community School, Brighton and Hove High School for Girls, Seaford Community College, Davison High, Brighton College, Hurstpierpoint College, Saxon Mount School and Millais School.

At the end of Sunday’s trade fair one lucky group from Peacehaven Community College were given an award for their performance.

This is the first year Peacehaven Community College, which has just opened a new sixth form centre, has taken part in the programme.

At the end of the year teams take part in the Young Enterprise Company of the Year Awards, and the overall UK winner can then go on to the European Final in Iceland.
