More roadworks began this week as a radical scheme to update Brighton and Hove's water supplies continues.

Work to replace a water main in Castle Street, Brighton, is expected to last until May 25.

In Buckingham Street, Brighton, similar work is due to begin on Monday and will last until June 1.

The road from Gloucester Place to St George's Place, Brighton, is to close again next Sunday between 9am and 4pm to allow Southern Water to install a new main.

Traffic will be diverted around St Peter's Church and Richmond Place.

In Eastern Road, Brighton, work is being carried out at off-peak times to improve kerbs and pavements between Bristol Gate and Upper Abbey Road.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place until Friday, February 23.

Major work by Southern Water is still in progress in Hove at Old Shoreham Road, Victoria Cottages, Second Avenue, Donkey Meys, The Esplanade, Upper Market Street and Lower Market Street.

In Brighton, Southern Water is laying new water mains in North Street, West Street, Queen's Road, Russell Road, Preston Street, Western Street, Lansdowne Road, St George's Place and Clifton Street.

The major roadworks at Fiveways in Ditchling Road, Brighton, are expected to continue for the next two months until April.

There will be temporary traffic lights and Stanford Avenue will be closed to traffic for the next two weeks.
