Aladdin was in Seaford. Did you see him?

I have read with interest recent letters regarding smaller local theatres in our area and quality entertainment that is available locally and at a fraction of the price of going to larger town venues.

Recently, I played the part of the emperor in the pantomime Aladdin, put on by Seaford Musical Theatre at the Barn Theatre in Seaford.

We are a community charity theatre group comprising a thriving and multi-award-winning junior section and an adult group of talented performers.

Aladdin was brought to the stage by a very enthusiastic and committed cast, assisted by the musicians and a backstage crew of helpers and technicians.

In total around 40 members including a front of house team gave their all, so that nine performances could be staged in front of record audiences.

Although we are an amateur group, our performances are always praised for their high quality.

New members are always welcome to join our fun theatre including actors, singers, front of house and back stage volunteers.

There is something for everyone. The point of my letter is to let everyone know that undoubtedly in your local area, there is a hard-working and talented team working hard to put on quality amateur productions for your enjoyment, so please go and support them.

Your local theatre needs you.

Seaford Musical Theatre (The Barn Theatre in Seaford) is always looking for and welcomes new members both performing and backstage – costumes, props, technical, scenery, make-up etc depending on your fancy. (See seafordmusicaltheatre.co.uk) As for me it’s back to rehearsals for our next show in May (Sussex-by-theSea) and, for the junior section, April’s performances of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
