A MOTHER of four will be taking on Mount Kilimanjaro as she tackles the volcano to raise money for charity.

Dawn Paul, from Peacehaven, has been supporting the NSPCC since 2011 but this February faces her biggest challenge yet as she treks up Africa’s highest peak.

The 54-year-old said: “I started supporting the NSPCC because it was a cause that was close to my sister’s heart.

“Since she passed away in 2011, I’ve been doing all I can to support them in her name and my own.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be doing something like this but here I am counting down the days – I’m doing it.”

Ms Paul will arrive at the foot of the mountain on February 13 and aims to raise a minimum of £1,000.

During the 5,895m ascent, she will pass through five eco systems and experience big fluctuations in temperature.

She will also witness spectacular views of Kenya and Tanzania.

She said: “I’m looking forward to every single bit of it – travelling to Africa and meeting new people on the way, to standing there at the start and wondering what I’ve let myself in for, and then standing at Uhura Peak on the roof of Africa and sobbing my heart out in happiness.”
