AN annual charity cheese and wine evening has raised almost £2,000 to help make life better for sick children and their families in Sussex.

The event organised by children’s charity Rockinghorse was held at the Hotel du Vin, in Brighton, and attracted more than 60 guests from businesses in the area.

Rockinghorse is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, in Brighton, and a vital supporter of the Trevor Mann baby unit at the neighbouring Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Sussex Cricket Club batsman Michael Yardy, a guest at the event, also presented a cheque for £6,000, which was raised from his benefit year.

The evening was hosted by David Deaves from Hove-based cheese specialist La Cave a Fromage, and Henry Butler from Butler’s Wine Cellar in Brighton.
