A CAMPAIGN to raise money for a young mother dying of cancer has passed £25,000.

Sam Beaven, 29, has been told she could have just weeks to live but is hoping lifesaving treatment in Mexico could save her.

Mrs Beaven was diagnosed with cervical cancer while pregnant with her youngest daughter Daisy just over a year ago.

She also has another daughter Bracken, six, and her friends and family are desperately trying to raise £100,000 so she can fly to Mexico for pioneering treatment which could give her more time with her children.

Declan Clancy and John Towler, landlords at Ye Olde Black Horse pub in Rottingdean where Sam used to be a barmaid, are organising a fundraising event to try to urgently raise the money she needs to stand a chance of seeing her two daughters grow up.

Tomorrow a Disney fancy dress themed fundraising event will be held at the pub to raise money for Sam’s treatment.

Mr Clancy said: “The local community and businesses have been donating raffle and auction prizes but more are needed – we are only at 25% of the target we need. We have a lot of money to raise and such a short time to do it.

“We are urging businesses in Brighton, and beyond, to be generous in helping a wonderful mum by donating whatever they can. We know it is cheeky but a car or something of that calibre would be an amazing auction prize and would be just the sort of thing we need to raise the necessary funds in time.”

Mrs Beaven’s friends Catherine Gould and Amy Beckwith are preparing to shave their hair to support her.

Catherine said: “I met Sam about seven or eight years ago. She is such a lovely person, I wanted to do more than just donate.

“Sam’s only 29 and has her baby and another very young daughter. Last week she had a seizure, the cancer has travelled to her brain. She desperately wants to go to Mexico to have hypothermia treatment and cutting edge intravenous immune therapies. I believe she can beat this, we’re asking people to help.”
