In August 2014 The Argus published a letter of mine ‘generous beach cleaners are fighting a losing battle’, where I suggested that government and/or local councils have no answer to the growing problem of litter.
In the meantime I reckon all the litterbugs in a 25-mile radius of Eastbourne have added to the pile.
I regularly travel to Uckfield and the bus that I travel on uses (among other roads) the A27 and the A22 where all road verges are lined by discarded rubbish.
I am always ashamed when I witness the way my fellow countrymen and women treat the land they live in.
Alas it’s just as bad in the towns but here it generally gets cleared up quicker – but it shouldn’t be there in the first place.
