Regarding Adam Trimingham’s article about Saltdean Lido, he hit the nail right on top of the head.

I don’t think it will open as a swimming pool again as much as I would like it to.

It would cost a huge amount of money to repair the pool, and heat it, to open it for six weeks in the school holidays.

What happens if it rains with no roof on it. I am afraid it’s a pipe dream. Open air pools do not work. Rottingdean closed, Black Rock never opened again. Brighton has never had an open air pool and that must say something.

I spend nearly every day on the beaches of Saltdean and Rottingdean in the summer with my metal detector. The beaches are packed. Who needs a pool? The beaches are cleaned every day. It’s lovely.
