TRAVELLERS have pitched up in a supermarket car park.

A group of three caravans and two vans pulled up at the Asda car park on the Hollingbury Industrial Estate late last night.

A member of the group said they have already been visited by police.

Shortly before 2pm today a mother-of-two in one of the caravans told The Argus: “We will be leaving within half an hour. The police have already visited us and they have been very kind. We are just resting up before we travel on our journey. We are not sure how far we are going yet.”

An Asda spokeswoman said: “The store is operating as normal and we have advised they have to move on.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were made aware of travellers in the Asda car park at Hollingbury at 12.30pm on February 11. The landowners are also aware and are dealing with the situation.”
