A TEENAGER has landed a dream role in a new musical.

Toby Murray, 13, from Brighton, bagged himself the lead part in Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 ¾.

Toby, a student at Lewes Old Grammar School, is one of four boys who will be sharing role of Adrian at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.

The story was Sue Townsend’s first novel, published in 1982, and has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.

Toby said: “I was so excited when I got the news that I’d been offered the role. I love the script and the songs are amazing.

“I feel so lucky to be part of such an incredible new show. Being 13 myself, I feel I can really relate to the character. I can’t wait.”

Toby attends Brighton’s Theatre Workshop Stage School and is represented by their associated agency.

Just last year he played the leading role of Emil in ‘Emil and the Detectives’ at London’s National Theatre and is currently a regular face on CBBC hit Dani’s Castle.

The Adrian Mole musical opens in March 2015.
