A CONSERVATION manager got a rare opportunity to inspect a stained glass window during renovation work.
Peter Nottingham was given the task of cleaning the glass and stone tracery of the Rose Window in the Victorian Barons’ Hall at Arundel Castle.
The window is some 14 metres up and because work was being carried out below the window, extensive scaffolding was erected.
Construction on the Barons’ Hall was started by Duke Henry, the 15th Duke of Norfolk, in 1893.
The castle is due to re-open to visitors on March 28.
