A MAN has died after being electrocuted on a railway line.

The incident happened at Drayton Crossing near Chichester in the early hours of this morning.

British Transport Police confirmed the 21-year-old, from Bognor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been informed.

A spokesperson said: “British Transport Police officers were called to Drayton Crossing, Drayton Lane, West Sussex, on Saturday, February 14, 2015 after someone reported that a person had been electrocuted on the railway line.

“Officers from BTP and Sussex Police attended the scene after it was reported at 3.30am and medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is being treated as non suspicious but a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

The incident closed all lines between Barnham and Chichester. All lines have now reopened with delays while services recover.
