NEIGHBOURS were arrested after a family was attacked, assaulted and stabbed.

Robert Taylor needed an operation on his leg after being stabbed with a kitchen knife at his daughter Gemma’s house in Robertson Road, Brighton, where she was at home with her eight-year-old son and partner Lewis.

And their neighbours Michael Burton and Eve Perry have been arrested accused of causing grievous bodily harm. They were released on police bail.

Gemma, 29, said she was pushed to the floor, her hair was grabbed and her face was smashed into the ground on Sunday evening.

When her 57-year-old father arrived to help she said she was punched and Robert was stabbed. Robert was still in hospital recovering from his injury last night and Gemma is too scared to return home. She said: “I don’t want to go back home when I know the attackers came round with a knife to my house.

“My son was at home at the time. He saw them come to the door and shouting and then my boyfriend Lewis took him upstairs. He heard everything. He was terrified. He saw the blood.”

Gemma’s boyfriend Lewis Gent, 21, took her son upstairs during the attack and dialled 999.

He added: “They just came round and threatened us.

“They hit Gemma and slammed her face on the floor.

“I ran upstairs to call 999 and Robert was stabbed.

“My missus has a little boy and they’re too scared to stay here after this.

“She refuses to go back as all she’s thinking is that her dad’s been stabbed in that house.”

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “At 8pm on Sunday police were called to an address in Robertson Road after a 57-year-old man had received a stab wound to his leg for which he was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

“The injury was serious but not life threatening.

“A 42-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and are currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.”

Mr Burton and Ms Perry have been released on bail until March 16.
