A GOVERNMENT minister paid a visit to a busy port.
Local growth minister Penny Mordaunt stopped by at Shoreham Port to have a look at its facilities.
She was shown around by the port’s chief executive Rodney Lunn and Coast To Capital chief executive Ron Crank.
Her visit marked the award of an additional £5.7 million from the Regional Growth Fund for businesses in the South East.
At Shoreham Port, the grant money will help fund 20% of a project called Power Station Wharf.
Ms Mordaunt was shown the project, which will see new cargo coming into the port.
She said: “It is great to see it.
“This is a project that is ready to go. People are being taken on and there is cargo waiting to come in here.
“It is really good.”
Total funding for businesses in the region now stands at £140 million, which the Government says will unlock £900 million in private investment and create or safeguard 45,000 jobs.
