A MAN and a woman have been arrested after a man who had recently died was robbed.

Police have made two arrests in connection with enquiries into a burglary at the flat of a Hastings man.

Police had been called at 12.40pm on February 2 to a report of a burglary at a flat in Egremont Place, Hastings, at the home of a man who had died recently.

Between 2.30pm on Sunday February 1 and 12.30pm the next day an intruder forced a window open and searched the home.

On Monday, detectives arrested a 28-year old woman and a 21-year old man at an address in the same road, both on suspicion of burglary and dishonest handling.

After being interviewed they were both released on police bail until March 31 while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Dominic Witham said: "Several items stolen in the burglary were seized at their address, and have been identified as such by the deceased's family.

"However amongst the items stolen and still missing is a distinctive Australian men's Kangaroo Two Tone Penny Watch and we are releasing a photo of it, hoping to hear from anyone who has been offered it since February 1.

“If you have been offered it or have any other information, please contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call on 101, quoting serial 620 of February 2.

“You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
