A CRASH believed to involve up to four vehicles is causing tailbacks on the A27.

Witnesses reported there has been a crash on the A27 westbound at Portslade just before the A293 junction.

Earlier today East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning urging drivers to take care on the roads.

Sarah Lewis said: “Traffic was backed up and we hit at Devil’s Dyke where it was nose to tail.

“We saw two fire engines, police and ambulance.

“There was a blue car with its windscreen smashed in, and another two cars up ahead.”

The extent of any injuries is currently unknown and Sussex Police a are on the scene.

A spokesman for the force said: "The road is facing heavy delays."
