SCHOOLCHILDREN pitched in to give a food bank a helping hand.
Pupils from St Nicolas Primary School in Portslade visited the Purple People Kitchen Food Bank to assist in getting items ready for those in need.
The food bank, based at Portslade Town Hall, runs every Friday from noon. The group of pupils and teachers visited last Friday.
Ann Menhinick, who helps run the food bank, said: “They were very interested in the whole process, asking a number of questions, and watched as the Fare Share delivery was unloaded.
“They were very keen to help and were soon busy sorting food and bagging up pasta, ready for the opening of the food bank.”
The pupils made a short video of their visit, showing how the food their school contributed was distributed to people in need.
They intend to use their video to promote the needs of the food bank to other schools in the area.
