WITH a wet start to the day the county is bracing itself for a wet weekend but sunshine is forecast for the start of next week.
More rain is set to the hit Brighton and Sussex later on today and is expected to drag out throughout the afternoon until the early evening.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Patchy rain may linger near the south coast through the day, perhaps becoming heavy for a time."
A chilly but dry start is predicted for Saturday morning but the wet weather will return throughout the afternoon.
Sunday will be the same, starting out dry but with rain rolling in throughout the afternoon and into the late evening.
However the rain will clear throughout the night and to start the week Sussex should be in for a bright morning on Monday.
A spokesman said: "Bright start on Sunday, then wet and windy. Clearing to showers later. Blustery winds with showers on Monday, perhaps occasionally sleety. Drier and brighter on Tuesday, but cold."
