FRESH fruit and cuddly toys were on the menu at a Hollingbury nursery when youngsters had a teddy bears picnic to learn about healthy eating, writes Lucy Grosvenor.
The 12 children at Footsteps Day Nursery, aged between two and three-and-a-half, brought in their toys from home and everyone got involved with making good choices about food.
Tarra Pitman, deputy manager, said: “Healthy eating is so important and it was great to use interactive learning with the children’s teddies to talk about eating the right snacks.
“It is easy to get tempted by chocolate and sweets but we wanted to show them how tasty the right food can be too.”
Melon, apples, cherry tomatoes and pears were all tried by the youngsters.
The nursery in Lyminster Avenue has only been open a year and has already achieved a healthy eating award from Brighton and Hove City Council.
