ACROSS Sussex fundraisers brought out their fancy dress and face-paint to raise money for Red Nose Day, the annual fundraising event organised by Comic Relief.

St Joseph’s RC Primary school in Brighton enjoyed a full day of fundraising fun, with teachers and teaching assistants swapping classes and there was a danceathon on the playground at lunchtime.

One clever class wrote a geography quiz and tested their teachers, with anyone unable to answer a question donating £2.

By lunchtime they had already raised more than £200 and a bake sale after school took the total even higher.

Children at Miss Kelly’s Baby Ballet class in Hove dressed up in red and danced their hearts out for charity all week.

And Kim Coghlan entertained visitors to her roadside cafe on Crowhurst Road, Brighton, with colourful face paint and giant red noses.

Children at Aldrington Church of England primary school got busy in the kitchen, cooking and decorating red nose cakes for a Comic Relief bake-off and cake sale after school.

The cakes were judged by the school cook and a staff member from Waitrose patisserie.

The winners were Harvey Tanner, Isla Hubbard, and Soloman, Elijah and Noah Kendrick.

Employees at Domestic and General’s Brighton contact centre held a trolley dash, racing across their office to sell tasty treats donated by Jasper’s Catering in Portslade.

It was part of their week of funny fundraising events, which also included a comedy pub quiz and a bake-off competition, and they hoped to raise more than £1,200.

And at Seaford Primary School where their red noses sold out, children were raising money with silliest faces they could manage.
