Residents are being asked to stay alert for suspicions behaviour after a rise in burglaries.
Sussex Police is asking people who live, work or visit the Meads area of Eastbourne to be aware of strange behaviour, particularly around homes and outbuildings.
Detective constable Andy Lawrence said: "There has recently been a slight rise in burglaries within the Meads area, over various times of day and evening.
"Offenders are forcing entry when people are out to steal jewellery and electrical items. We suspect that there is more than one person involved in these burglaries."
Local officer PC Keith Rockingham added:" We strongly urge residents to make sure that all high value items are hidden or, better still, locked away securely.
"When going out, please double check that all doors and windows are locked. Items of high monetary or sentimental value should be photographed, any serial numbers recorded and these details kept safe.
"Such possessions can also be registered at www.immobilise.com."
Should you see anyone acting suspiciously, call 999. If you have any non-urgent information, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101.
