SOME much-welcome government money is being cashed in to help the council it has served as a wake-up call for the scope of our seafront problem.

With almost £9 million coming from the Department for Transport to help save part of our beloved city’s beautiful seafront, the realisation that the council still faces a bill of £90 million is troubling to say the least.

But now is not the time for name calling or the blame game as this is a historical problem. Everyone in the city must now band together to help save our seafront.

It cannot be just left to rot and become dilapidated.

With politicians putting aside their party differences and traders eager to support more bids for funding, this must be the year we find a seafront solution.

The promenade is not just beloved by people in the city but is loved all over the world We cannot let it become part of Brighton’s past when it is essential for Brighton’s future.
