I’m happy to oblige Robert Dawes (Letters, April 3) who asks for positive policies from Labour, and I’m sorry he’s missed them so far.

In our ten-point ‘Contract With Brighton and Hove’ last October, we promised 500 new council homes, a new secondary school, action to improve refuse collection and recycling and more.

Our 25-page manifesto ‘A Council That Works For You’ published last month details our pledges to end youth unemployment in the city, licence private landlords and deliver a better deal for tenants in the private rented sector, and set up a Fairness Commission to tackle poverty, low wages and inequality.

In addition I have said a Labour council will suspend and review Green-initiated traffic schemes, devolve power to neighbourhoods and aim to end street homelessness in the city.

Mr Dawes and others can read further pledges on backing business, making our city healthier and safer, and improving our environment in our manifesto at www.brightonhovelabour.com
