Police officers, residents and businesses will be holding a ‘day of action’ in response to community concerns about a town's notorious road.

The event, on April 11 in Worthing, has been organised by a Local Action Team (LAT) to look at concerns in the Rowlands Road area of the town.

Issues include perception of crime, particularly drug-related crime, along with concerns about the amount of ‘For Sale’ and ‘For let’ signs on display and a subsequent transient community.

Members of the LAT will be on hand outside the Gala Bingo hall from 11am to offer crime prevention advice, ranging from scam and fraud prevention messages and how to keep your property safe this summer. Locals will also be given tips on what to do if they are concerned about drugs in their area.

PC Marv Lucas said: "The concerns were raised at our monthly Joint Action Group meeting about the general feeling in the Rowlands Road area. It has been invaluable to have a number of residents involved in the LAT because it has helped us to get a really clear picture from our community about what their issues are and what we can be doing to support them.”
