Emergency services and rescue crews have stood down a search for a possible missing person in the water off Brighton seafront.
Both Shoreham lifeboats and Coastguard were involved in a search near the Palace Pier at about 1pm yesterday. Initial reports suggested a pile of clothes had been found on the beach that were unaccounted for.
An extensive search was carried out between Brighton Marina and the West pier, but all stations were stood down at 2.10pm.
