PEOPLE with ME have come a long way since the days of the derogatory term “yuppie flu”.
There is no doubt the condition causes a whole range of serious problems which can leave many sufferers bed-bound, exhausted and in a lot of pain.
There is lack of understanding and assumptions about ME.
Dealing with the effects of the condition is hard enough but Kristina Bray from Hove is working to overcome this as she campaigns against calls to change the name of ME to something called SEID, which she says does not reflect the diversity of the problems people experience.
She may have a long fight ahead but Ms Bray is determined to get as many supporters as possible. ME has now become a much more recognisable term.
The focus should now be on continuing research and studies into finding a cure instead of trying to change the name and setting the fight to get the condition more widely understood back by decades.
