A campaigner has urged the Attorney General to re-examine the death of a murdered schoolgirl.

Billie-Jo Jenkins, 13, died in 1997 in Hastings after being hit over the head at least five times with a metal tent peg in the back garden of her family home in Hastings.

The teenager's step-father, Sion Jenkins, was cleared of the murder after three trials.

Burgess Hill resident, John Bray, who has campaigned to clear Mr Jenkins' name, has now asked for the inquest into Billie-Jo's death to be reopened in an attempt to find her real killer.

He has written to Lord Goldsmith, saying that reopening the inquest would shed further light on the case.
