K Jameson's allegation that the Brighton and Hove Bus Company is collecting "yet more money from motorists" is a new one on me (Letters, March 23).
The bus lanes approaching the Clock Tower are enforced by Brighton and Hove City Council's cameras.
Our experience of the first week shows almost 100 per cent compliance by motorists so, as the council has said, its scheme will not be a money-making venture and is instead a way of giving thousands of bus passengers a more reliable journey every day.
Dr Earthey's suggestion for express buses along the coast road to Brighton Station is a good one (Letters, March 27).
When the planned bus lanes along the A259 are completed (construction work is due to start later this year), buses will be able to glide past the twoand- a-half mile queue of commuter cars each morning east of the Rottingdean bottleneck, opening up fantastic opportunities for more limited-stop services and faster bus journeys for commuters.
However, in planning these we have to remember that one satisfied passenger's express bus can be another passenger's frustrating wait at a bus stop further along the route watching the express bus sail by.
