My family and I intended to stay in Brighton for the Easter weekend.
My mother-in-law needs a wheelchair, so I hoped to borrow or rent one locally rather than bring one all the way from Wakefield.
The hotel doesn't have them "for health and safety and insurance reasons", so I rang Tourist Information in Brighton for help.
Its new number costs 50p a minute to talk to someone and it takes a minute to get through the automated switchboard.
I got some numbers for wheelchair suppliers, after asking the lady to talk quickly.
Unfortunately, the mobility shops are mostly open Monday to Friday and are closed on bank holidays, so I can't get one.
I shall take my family and its tourist pounds elsewhere because I am so disillusioned by this experience.
I doubt I shall be the only one.
