Ending this season's concerts by the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) was a central performance by Portuguese pianist Artur Pizarro, who has now made his home in Brighton and Hove.
This outstanding pianist of international fame gave the audience a beautifully rounded reading of Saint-Saen's Fifth Piano Concerto, The Egyptian.
Pizarro dazzled and brought cries of "Bravo" from the audience - something he repeated in a magnificent reading of Manuel de Falla's Nights in the Garden of Spain, a piece he had performed with BPO conductor Barry Wordsworth at last year's promenade concerts.
- The 83rd season starts on September 30 and includes 12 major symphonies and a mini festival of works by Beethoven. Early birds can buy season tickets throughout April at a discounted rate of between £50.40 and £198.
