Two young men were shocked with a stun gun in a town centre in a "rare and very unusual attack"

The pair were with a third man and had left Cameo's in Langney Road to walk along Terminus Road towards Eastbourne railway station.

Between 3.30am and 3.45am on Tuesday (April 21) near Barclays Bank they were approached by a man who pushed something into one of the trio's faces.

He sensed a flash and felt a sharp pain before pulling what appeared to be two metal barbs from his skin.

A companion was also hit with the device - described as resembling an electric shaver or television remote control - and fell stunned to the ground.

Both quickly recovered and did not need hospital treatment. Both are aged 18.

Their attacker was said to be in his early to mid 30s, 6', tanned, of muscular build and with black hair. He was wearing a blue polo or t-shirt and jeans, and had a large tattoo on his right arm.

Inspector Rachel Barrow, of Eastbourne police, said: "This was a rare and very unusual attack. Fortunately neither victim was seriously hurt.

"However we are keen to establish exactly what happened and to identify the man with the taser-like device."
