MURDER detectives investigating the disappearance of a bomb disposal expert have renewed their appeal for information.

Mark Manning, 54, from Brighton Road, Lancing, was last seen on April 19, 2014, and no-one has reported hearing or seeing from him since.

Detectives launched a murder investigation in June, although his body has not been found.

The former military bomb disposal expert had worked for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a charity that removes landmines and other dangers in some of the world's poorest countries.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Ashcroft, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “A year ago Mark Manning vanished. His disappearance was completely out of character.

"Despite being close to his family they have not heard from him at all. He hasn't used his mobile phone, or carried out any financial transactions, hasn't turned up for pre-arranged appointments and meetings and there has no been no reported sightings of him.

"We want to hear from anyone who may have seen Mark or has any information about what has happened to him.

"We are determined to establish what has happened and to provide answers for his family, who are desperate for any news about him."

Mark is described as white, 5' 9", clean shaven, with a tanned complexion and of stocky build. He has blue eyes and is bald.
