A MAN has been convicted of drink-driving after being caught driving in the dark with no lights on.

Curtis Pelly, 28, was arrested after police saw his Peugeot 206 being driven in Market Avenue and East Street in Chichester.

He was found to have 67 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath – almost twice the 35 microgrammes legal limit – at 1.30am on Sunday, June 15 last year.

Pelly, of Maplehurst Road, Chichester, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court on April 29.

He was banned from driving for 16 months, fined £400 and ordered to pay £300 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

He became the 113th person to be convicted of offences after being caught in last summer's month-long crackdown on drink and drug-drivers in Sussex.

119 people to have been charged as part of the campaign, with six still being dealt with by the courts.
