I am a Hove resident of four years. I am also a member of the local Respect party and am standing in the Hangleton area of Hove in the May council elections.

I, along with fellow Respect members and other strong activists, was active in leafletting and canvassing in support of the Defend Council Housing (DCH) campaign. This eventually led to the commendable vote against stock transfer by local tenants.

I see a link with the DCH campaign to give working people housing they can afford and the newly approved King Alfred development.

I am concerned about what is meant by "affordable housing"

in the recently agreed plans for this project.

I understand the lowest price will be around £150,000 which is not affordable pricing for most ordinary people.

For me this indicates big business is taking the opportunity to profit on a spin of caring about the community.
