A BUS commemorating the First World War was hit by a car in an accident this afternoon.

Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company’s Heritage Bus was stationary at the junction of The Drive and Upper Drive at the time.

The crash happened at 1.30pm, leaving one person in the car with a slight injury, though not needing treatment, and the back of the bus damaged.

The prang comes ahead of a special bus naming ceremony next Tuesday when the late D-Day veteran Bernard Jordan gets his name emblazoned on the front of the vehicle.

Bus company managing director Martin Harris told The Argus his engineers were working hard to get it fixed.

He said: “We now have just a few days to repair the damage.”
