We’re a welcoming and diverse city but it’s great to see a born and bred Brightonian Warren Morgan leading the city council.
There are no quick fixes for the new council, but it needs to get the basics right – getting the filthy streets clean and the traffic moving through endless roadworks.
It also needs to help get everyone to work. That’s not only tackling unemployment, it is also about attracting new employers and investment to give a proper alternative to all those in lower paid, temporary jobs.
We need to close the gap between stagnant earnings and the growing cost of living in our city.
As long as it stays true to its strong local roots, understanding that we are a city that’s proud to be a fun destination, a growing economy, a diverse community and a clean and safe place, we’ll be up and running again soon.
