With the election over it is obvious that British democracy is in danger.

Tories got 37% of the vote, beating Labour by 6%, yet have 90 more seats. Ukip got 13% of the votes and just one seat.

Northern Ireland returned 16 MPs to Westminster with a similar number of votes to the Greens, who got just one seat.

Scottish Nationlists got 51% of Scotland’s votes with over 90% of their seats and on just 5% of the UK vote have 56 MPs at Westminster.

The Tories last time wanted to reduce MPs by 50 and move boundaries, gifting themselves an extra 20 seats but this was prevented by the Liberal Democrats.

They now have a Westminster majority and can do it, plus it is in their manisfesto to prevent MPs not in England voting on more or less all except defence and foreign affairs.

That would give this new government a working majority on most issues with a 70 seat voting majority.

A majority UK government can, on a whim, create and scrap, move boundaries and change voting systems at every tier from town councils to the Scottish parliament across the whole UK.

Could Labour win an England only election? Can anyone other than the Tories? It is the UK government that decides funding and the limits on tax raising at every tier of UK government, including the devolved parliaments.

With an unelected House of Lords and the government able to create new peers on a whim with an unelected head of state, we are heading for dictatorship.
