YOU backed the best busker and now his dream has come true.

Vadim Petrov, who was chosen for his easy-listening piano ballads by Argus readers, went into the studio on Tuesday to lay down his sound.

The 26-year-old, who had been playing his keyboard on the streets of Brighton just weeks earlier, found himself sat in front of a famous Steinway grand piano at Yellow Fish studios near Lewes.

He said: “At the beginning I was thinking too complicated but then I relaxed into it.

“I sat down at the piano, which is amazing, and just did it from beginning to end.

“Steinways cost £32,000 new and are industry-standard. I thought it would be great to record a real piano.

“It was something I had always wanted to do and now I have.”

The piano he used to record his track, which is as yet unnamed, used to belong to Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Vadim opted to push the studio’s gadgetry to its limits by recording a dubstep piece featuring the piano.

His instrumental tune involves a “growling bass” part, typical of the dubstep dance genre, and some synthesizers that sound like “ice melting”, as Vadim describes it.

He was quick to compliment the recording team at Yellow Fish, who helped make his ideas reality.

Vadim said: “They got the vibe and had a feel for it. They were very helpful and enthusiastic.”

Ross McCraken, director of Yellow Fish Music Group, said: “It was a pleasure to be involved and it is nice for us to get out there and discover new talent.

“The engineer said he really enjoyed the session and said it went very well.”

Vadim is yet to decide on a title for his new recording but plans to release it as a single in the future.

He said: “I haven’t decided on a title yet. Now it’s recorded I can focus on the release and think of a name. The title should summarise it all.”

Vadim is still taking bookings while putting together his DIY release.

He added: “I am so thankful to readers of The Argus for voting for me. I’m very grateful for that.

“Who could imagine that I was busking in street and now I have a recording of me playing a Steinway grand piano.”
