THE OWNER of a dog which was swept out to sea is urging people to look out for him.

Dog owners were rescued by coastguard and lifeboat crews after going into the sea after their pets.

The two people got into difficulty in the sea at Newhaven and lifeboat crews from the town were called out to help them at around 5pm yesterday, a coastguard spokesman said.

They were rescued and were unhurt. One dog was safe but the other has not been found.

The owner of Sergio, a 13-month-old Clumberdoodle – a cross between a Clumber Spaniel and a miniature or standard poodle – is urging people to look out for his pet in case he has washed up on the beach and has taken shelter.

He urged anyone who finds him to contact police on 101 quoting serial 263 of May 19.
