A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was raped in a wood.
The teenager said she was attacked by Comphurst Lane, Windmill Hill, near Herstmonceux at about 6pm on Sunday.
Police have been examining the area and making house-to-house enquiries.
A suspect may have been driving a black BMW car and is described as a white, 17 or 18-year-old medium build man who was 5ft 9ins tall with black hair swept across his forehead, brown eyes and was wearing a white top, black jacket, white shoes and had a black bag across his chest.
Detective sergeant Suzy Joseph said: "We are still trying to establish the circumstances with the victim and it is unclear at this stage whether she may have known the suspect. She is being looked after by specially trained officers.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim go into the wooded area or the suspect.
"We will be increasing the number of police patrols in the area in the next few days and anyone who is concerned can speak to one of our officers."
