A 40-YEAR-OLD woman was allegedly raped by a man after meeting him at a taxi rank.
Police are appealing for the taxi driver who picked them up to come forward.
The woman, from St Leonards, had been out with friends in Hastings on Saturday when she decided to go home.
She went to get a taxi at the rank outside Wetherspoons in Havelock Road, where she was approached by a man. Police said they began talking and got into a taxi together to an unknown address, where he raped her.
Detective Inspector Rob Morland said the man was described as being black with short dreadlocks, between 5' 4" to 5' 5", around 30 years old.
He was wearing a red hooded top and had a stud earring in his right ear.
He added: “We are appealing to the taxi driver who might have picked up a man matching this description from Havelock Road between 11.30pm and 3am.
"If anyone was in the area on Saturday night do you remember seeing a man of this description?”
